Experience

Scott Shepardson practices in the commercial litigation and real estate areas. He has extensive experience in toxic tort litigation, business contract disputes, real estate litigation, including eminent domain and unlawful detainer, as well as the negotiation and drafting of commercial leases.

In the toxic tort area, Scott’s practice emphasizes asbestos litigation where he has represented various industrial clients including oil companies, automakers, truck manufacturers, contractors, paper machine companies and distributors of refractory products. He has participated in trials in multiple states on behalf of these clients and has successfully negotiated settlements in hundreds of cases. Scott has extensive deposition experience and has worked on national trial strategy concerning expert witnesses in the areas of pathology and epidemiology.

In the real estate area, Scott has negotiated and drafted commercial and retail leases on behalf of landlords and tenants in high rise buildings, retail shopping centers, and commercial properties. He has successfully represented property owners and lessees in condemnation cases throughout Central and Northern California. He also represents building landlords and commercial tenants in unlawful detainer actions and specializes in complex work-out situations involved in multi-layer tenancies.

Scott is admitted to practice in California, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, and the U.S. district courts for the Central, Eastern, and Northern districts of California.
