Nixon Peabody Taps New Leader of Firm’s Private Clients Practice; Boston Partner Deborah Anderson Will Lead Team of Attorneys and Financial Planners

New York, NY. International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP has named Deborah L. Anderson as leader of the firm’s Private Clients practice which includes more than 30 attorneys as well as financial planners, financial analysts, and certified public accountants. This leadership change takes effect February 1, 2010. Partners Tom Farace and Cressida Dixon will serve as deputy leaders of the Private Clients practice.

Attorneys in Nixon Peabody’s Private Clients practice ensure clients’ assets are maximized and protected and their financial goals are achieved through a wide variety of services, including financial planning, investment advice and management, estate and gift planning, trust and fiduciary services, comprehensive income tax services, executive benefit planning, and retirement and education planning.

Ms. Anderson, who is based in the firm’s Boston office, joined Nixon Peabody in 1990. She provides estate and related tax and business planning services to clients to minimize the effects of income taxes and estate taxes. Her practice includes estate planning, estate and gift taxation, charitable planning, business succession planning, and the administration of estates and trusts. Ms. Anderson succeeds the practice’s previous leader for 20 years, John T. Fitzgerald, Jr., who will continue to focus on his practice on personal financial and estate planning.

Ms. Anderson is a member of the Boston Bar Association Estate Planning Committee and the Boston Estate Planning Council. She serves as treasurer and a trustee on the Board of Trustees of the Judge Baker Children’s Center. She has been named one of the “Top 100 Attorneys” by Worth Magazine for 2008, one of only five so designated in Massachusetts. Ms. Anderson earned her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and an LL.M. from Boston University School of Law. She received her bachelor’s degree from Smith College.
