Nixon Peabody Expands Capital Markets Practice; Firm Announces Arrival of Senior Counsel William Lasher and Names New Leadership

New York, NY. International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP announces the expansion of its Corporate Trust and Securitization and Structured Finance teams with the addition of William W. Lasher as senior counsel. Mr. Lasher will be based in the firm’s New York City office. He joins Nixon Peabody from Dorsey & Whitney.

Mr. Lasher focuses his practice in the area of corporate trust and structured finance. He has represented financial institutions in their capacities as trustees, administrators, custodians, and agents in domestic and international debt offerings, including those involving collateralized debt obligations and future cash flow securitizations, and under escrow and custody agreements, reinsurance trust agreements, and other trust agreements. Mr. Lasher will also be very involved with the firm’s Securitization and Structured Finance team, led by Keith L. Krasney and Peter C. Morreale, as he complements the firm’s existing capabilities in this area. Nixon Peabody’s Securitization and Structured Finance team is involved in term and revolving securitizations, sales, purchases and financings of financial assets, and sales, divestitures, and purchases of interests in financial institutions. The practice group’s clients include investment banks, commercial banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, servicers, third-party credit providers, and other financial institutions and investors.

Coughlin, newly named team leader of the firm’s Corporate Trust practice. “His depth and breadth of experience, including as a Delaware attorney, will both complement and enhance our ability to service our corporate trust clients more fully and effectively across the country.” Mr. Coughlin succeeds the Corporate Trust practice’s previous leader, Laura Wheeler, who will retire at the end of January.

Mr. Coughlin is based in the firm’s Boston office and represents institutions involving matters in structured finance, securitization, municipal finance, and corporate finance. He regularly advises corporate trust clients in matters ranging from document negotiation and deal origination to Regulation AB disclosure, regulatory compliance, and resolution of problem scenarios, including MBS and ABS servicing and asset repurchase issues, CDO portfolio liquidation, and other types of default and dispute resolution.

Mr. Coughlin earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law. He received his B.A. from Boston College. Mr. Lasher graduated from the University of Virginia, where he received his B.A. He received his J.D. from New York University Law School.
