AUTM 2010 Annual Meeting

Ronald I. Eisenstein, partner and co-leader of the Nixon Peabody’s Patent Interference, Opposition, Reexamination, and Reissue Team, will be the moderator of the panel “Dealing with the Attack On The Patentability of Personalized Medicine and Diagnostic Patents” at the upcoming Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) annual conference, March 18-20, in New Orleans, LA.  Ron will be joined by Brian J. Libby, Ph.D., J.D., of Partners HealthCare, Aaron Young, Ph.D., of Genzyme Corp., and Jay Z. Zhang, Myriad Genetics, Inc.

The panel will address recent decisions by the courts and the United States Patent and Trademark office regarding personalized medicine intellectual property—particularly in the field of diagnostic patents—and their impact on universities and nonprofits in patenting and licensing discoveries. They will also discuss strategies for dealing with the problems these cases present.
